DESCRIPTION
Published in 1993 by DC Comics, 'Bloodlines' was a crossover event that spanned multiple annual issues across various DC titles. The storyline was crafted by a team of writers and artists, including Dan Raspler, Chuck Dixon, and Alan Grant, with art contributions from Jim Balent, Tom Grummett, and others. The plot centered around a group of alien parasites that arrived on Earth, feeding on human spinal fluid. This invasion inadvertently led to the creation of new superheroes, as some of their victims survived and developed superpowers. Key characters introduced during this event included Hitman, created by Garth Ennis and John McCrea, who became one of the more enduring figures from the arc. The storyline involved major DC heroes such as Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, who battled these alien threats. 'Bloodlines' was significant for its introduction of numerous new characters, though many did not achieve lasting popularity. The event was spread across 23 annuals and concluded with a two-part miniseries titled 'Bloodbath.' While not critically acclaimed, 'Bloodlines' had a notable impact on the DC Universe by expanding its roster of characters.
