DESCRIPTION
Published in 1987 and written by J.M. DeMatteis with art by Mike Zeck, 'Kraven's Last Hunt' is a critically acclaimed storyline that appeared across three Spider-Man titles: 'The Amazing Spider-Man' #293-294, 'The Spectacular Spider-Man' #131-132, and 'Web of Spider-Man' #31-32. The story follows Kraven the Hunter, who, after years of being defeated by Spider-Man, decides to prove his superiority once and for all. Kraven captures Spider-Man, drugs him, and buries him alive. He then dons a Spider-Man costume and takes on the role of the vigilante, brutally dealing with criminals to prove he can be a better Spider-Man. The storyline also introduces the villain Vermin, whom Kraven defeats to demonstrate his prowess. The arc is notable for its dark tone and psychological depth, exploring themes of identity and obsession. It ends with Kraven committing suicide, believing he has achieved his life's goal. 'Kraven's Last Hunt' is considered one of the greatest Spider-Man stories and had a lasting impact on the character's mythos.
