Lists, Pull List, Collection, Reading: How They Work Together

Dangioffre

Comic collecting isn't just about what you own. It's also what you're hunting, what's coming out, and what you've read. VerseDB tracks all four.

The Four Pillars

Feature Purpose
Lists Track what you want, curate favorites, organize anything
Pull List What's coming out that you're following
Collection What you own (with full metadata)
Read Tracking What you've read (owned or not)

They connect: list items can move to your collection when acquired. Pull list series notify you of new releases. Read tracking shows progress through collected series.

Lists

Lists let you organize comics, characters, creators, and more into curated groups. Every user gets a Wishlist automatically, plus you can create unlimited custom lists.

List Types

Wishlist — Your default hunting list. Auto-created, can't be deleted. Track what you want to own and share with shops and collectors.

Custom Lists — Create lists for any purpose: "Best X-Men Runs," "Underrated Indies," "Comics to Read This Summer." Public lists can be liked, saved, and reviewed by other users.

What You Can List

Lists support multiple entity types:

  • Issues
  • Series
  • Characters
  • Creators
  • Story arcs
  • Teams

Tip
Make your wishlist public and share the link. Local shops and collectors can see exactly what you're hunting.

List Features

  • Ranked or unranked — Order items by preference or keep them unordered
  • Public or private — Share with the community or keep for yourself
  • Notes per item — Add context to individual entries
  • Likes and saves — Other users can engage with your public lists

Pull List

Follow ongoing series. Get notified when new issues drop.

Unlike traditional pull lists, VerseDB is series-based. Add a series once and every new issue is tracked automatically.

Management features:

  • Status: active, paused, or canceled
  • Skip specific issues you don't want
  • Priority ranking for tight budget weeks
  • Preferred cover type

Views: Grid, list, or calendar.

Notifications: Weekly emails about upcoming releases.

Note
PRO users can export pull lists as PDF, CSV, or Excel to hand directly to their shop.

Collection

Catalog what you own with detailed metadata.

Every collection item tracks:

  • Condition & grading — Raw condition, grade score, grading company, cert number
  • Signatures — Signed status, authentication, witness type
  • Variants — Type, description, print number
  • Purchase info — Date, price, source, acquisition method
  • Value — Estimated value, last updated
  • Organization — Storage location, notes, collection set

For the full breakdown of collection features, see Collection Sets: Organize Comics Your Way.

Browse your collection in three levels:

Overview → All items, stats, and sets

Title View → Click a title to see all series you own from that franchise

Series View → Click a series to see individual issues, including gaps

Tip
Use the "Not Collected" filter to see exactly which issues you need to complete a run.

Read Tracking

Separate from what you own. Track what you've actually read—perfect for digital readers, library borrowers, or tracking progress through your backlog.

For each issue:

  • Read date
  • Format (physical, digital, subscription)
  • Source (purchased, library, borrowed)
  • Notes

Progress visualization:

  • Series completion bars
  • Title-level progress
  • Stats and completion percentages

Note
PRO users can mark entire series read/unread with one click.

How They Work Together

Here's a typical workflow:

  1. Wishlist — You want to collect Saga. Add it to your wishlist with a note about preferred condition.

  2. Pull List — Saga is ongoing, so you add it to your pull list. VerseDB notifies you when new issues release.

  3. Collection — As you buy issues, add them to your collection with purchase details, condition, and storage location.

  4. Read Tracking — Mark each issue as read. Watch your progress bar fill.

  5. Organize — Create a collection set called "Saga Complete Run" and assign all issues.

The workflow adapts to how you collect. Use all four features or just the ones you need.

Get Started

Lists: Browse for something you want, click the list icon, add to your wishlist or a custom list.

Pull List: Find an ongoing series, add it, configure notifications.

Collection: Navigate to an issue you own, click "Add to Collection," fill in details.

Read Tracking: Mark issues as read after finishing them.

All four features are available on the free plan. See what PRO adds.
