David Nelson II took the name Airboy during World War II, a teenage Golden Age aviation hero flying a plane called Birdie whose ornithopter wings set it apart from any other fighter. Created by Charles Biro, Dick Wood and Al Camy for Hillman Periodicals, he later returned in a 1980s Eclipse revival.
