Willy Vandersteen added Jerom, a superhumanly strong Flemish caveman, to the Belgian series Suske en Wiske in the 1953 album De Dolle Musketiers. First a brutish antagonist, he was redesigned as a gentle, simple-minded giant. His own spin-off, Jerom de Gouden Stuntman, ran from 1962 to 1991.
