Hiroyuki Takei is a Japanese manga artist, born May 15, 1972, in Aomori Prefecture. He worked as an assistant to Nobuhiro Watsuki on Rurouni Kenshin and debuted professionally in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997. He is best known as the creator of Shaman King, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1998 to 2004 and sold more than sixteen million copies in Japan. He later collaborated with Stan Lee on the manga Karakuri Doji Ultimo, launched in 2008.
