Shuichi Shigeno is a Japanese manga artist born on March 8, 1958, in Matsunoyama, Niigata Prefecture. His motorcycle racing series Bari Bari Densetsu won the Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category in 1985. He is best known for Initial D, a street racing manga serialized in Weekly Young Magazine from 1995 to 2013 that sold over 56 million copies. He continued the story with the sequel series MF Ghost, which began in 2017.
