Akiko Higashimura is a Japanese manga artist born in Miyazaki Prefecture in 1975. She debuted professionally in 1999 and became known for character-driven stories about women and creative ambition. Her best-known works include Princess Jellyfish, which won a Kodansha Manga Award, the autobiographical Blank Canvas, and Tokyo Tarareba Girls. She has received the Manga Taisho and an Eisner Award for the English edition of Tokyo Tarareba Girls.
