Biography

Japanese shojo and josei manga artist who debuted in 1968 and is recognized for a career spanning several decades of women's and girls' comics. She received the Kodansha Manga Award for shojo in 1986 for Yukan Club, and an Excellence Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival in 2007 for Pride. Several of her series have been adapted into live-action television dramas and anime.
