French comic artist Jean Giraud worked under two identities throughout his career. As Gir, he co-created the western series Blueberry with writer Jean-Michel Charlier in 1963. As Moebius, he created experimental science fiction including Arzach, The Airtight Garage, and The Incal with Alejandro Jodorowsky. He co-founded Metal Hurlant magazine in 1975 and contributed concept designs to films including Alien and The Fifth Element. He was inducted into the Eisner Award Hall of Fame in 1998.
