American comic book writer and artist who created Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel in 1990 and co-founded Image Comics in 1992 alongside six other artists departing Marvel. He created ShadowHawk for Image and later served as Image's Publisher from 1999 to 2003, overseeing its diversification and discovering creators including Robert Kirkman. He continues to head Shadowline, his imprint within Image.
