A 1986 four-issue prestige format miniseries by Frank Miller. Set in a dystopian near-future, a 55-year-old Bruce Wayne comes out of retirement when Gotham City descends into chaos under the Mutant gang.
Wearing heavier armor and employing more brutal methods, an aging Batman confronts Two-Face, the Joker in one final encounter, and ultimately Superman. The series featured innovative storytelling techniques including TV talking heads commentary and internal monologue. It influenced subsequent interpretations of Batman.
