Isao Kondo is the commander of the Shinsengumi in Gintama. Nicknamed Gorilla, he spends most of his time stalking Tae Shimura and leaving the paperwork to his vice commander Hijikata. Hideaki Sorachi built him on the historical Shinsengumi commander Isami Kondo.
