Grandma Duck, whose full name is Elvira Coot, is a prominent elder of the Duck family in Disney comics. Created by Al Taliaferro, she first appeared in the Donald Duck newspaper comic strip in the early 1940s. She operates a farm near Duckburg with the help of her lazy grandnephew Gus Goose and is regarded as the matriarch of the extended Duck family. Her lineage traces back to Cornelius Coot, the legendary founder of Duckburg, making her one of the most historically significant characters in Disney comics.
