Samuel Smithers is a scientist who gained the ability to control plant life after an accident involving his experimental device. Using his powers, he can animate plants and create plant-based constructs, including human-like duplicates called Simuloids. Initially a villain known as Plantman, he later adopted the name Blackheath and briefly joined the Thunderbolts team. His plant manipulation skills allow him to command vegetation for offense, defense, and complex tasks, reflecting his deep connection to botanical life.
