Description

Asterix is the title character of the Franco-Belgian comic series created by writer René Goscinny and illustrator Albert Uderzo, first published in Pilote magazine on October 29, 1959. He is a diminutive but resourceful Gaulish warrior living in a village in 50 BC that holds out against Roman occupation, aided by a magic potion that grants temporary extraordinary strength. The series has been translated into 111 languages with over 385 million copies sold worldwide, making it among the most widely translated comic series in history.
