Spike is William Pratt, the peroxide blond vampire Joss Whedon and David Greenwalt created for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He was a mild mannered Victorian gentleman and a bad poet before he was turned, and the swagger came afterwards. IDW and Dark Horse have both published him in comics.
