Jiro Taniguchi was a Japanese manga artist and writer from Tottori Prefecture. He debuted in 1970 and worked in hard boiled action manga with scenarist Natsuo Sekigawa before shifting to quiet, observational stories with The Walking Man. He is best known internationally for A Distant Neighborhood, which won the Alph Art for best scenario at the Angouleme International Comics Festival in 2003.
