Shimura Takako
Japanese manga artist born in 1973, recognized for sensitive stories exploring gender identity and same-sex relationships. Her acclaimed series Wandering Son and Sweet Blue Flowers each ran for over a decade in seinen manga magazines and both received anime adaptations. Both series have been licensed in English. Shimura debuted in 1997 and is considered one of manga's foremost voices on LGBTQ+ themes.
