Japanese manga artist born in Yamaguchi in 1947 who worked in corporate advertising at Matsushita Electric before debuting as a manga artist in 1974. He is best known for the Kosaku Shima series, a workplace drama serializing in Kodansha's Morning since 1983 that draws on his firsthand experience of Japanese corporate culture. He is a winner of the Shogakukan, Kodansha, and Japan Media Arts awards.
