Daijirō Morohoshi
Biography
Japanese manga artist celebrated for science fiction, folklore, and horror stories steeped in mythology and the uncanny. He debuted in 1970 and won the Tezuka Award in 1974 for Seibutsu Toshi, later receiving the grand prize of the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2000 for Saiyu Yoenden. His work is widely cited as an influence on filmmakers Hayao Miyazaki and Hideaki Anno.
