José Ortiz (1932–2013) was a Spanish comics artist born in Cartagena. He began his career in the 1950s with pocket comics before joining Warren Publishing in 1974, where he drew more stories than any other artist over nearly a decade. In the 1980s he contributed extensively to British anthology comics including Eagle, Scream!, and 2000 AD, and later spent two decades illustrating the Italian western Tex for Sergio Bonelli Editore.
