Robert E. Howard was an American pulp fiction writer born in Texas in 1906. He is credited as the creator of Conan the Barbarian and is widely regarded as the founder of the sword and sorcery genre. Howard sold his first story to Weird Tales in 1925 and spent the next decade producing hundreds of works across multiple genres. His other notable characters include Kull of Atlantis, Solomon Kane, and Bran Mak Morn, and his creations have been adapted extensively in comics.
