Japanese manga artist best known for creating Rurouni Kenshin, a samurai-era adventure serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump beginning in 1994. The series sold over 72 million copies worldwide and was adapted into multiple anime and live-action films. Watsuki mentored several assistants who went on to successful careers, including Eiichiro Oda.
