Emma Frost summons the Avengers to stop Magneto's alleged plan to kidnap mutants from the Massachusetts Academy. Warlock shapeshifts into a blackbird-like craft and is severely injured during the confrontation, as Magneto tries to lead the heroes away. The New Mutants arrive to escort Magneto and Warlock back to the academy, where Emma Frost heals the emotional wounds of the ordeal and the mutants reconsider their future with Magneto.
