DESCRIPTION
Published in 2005-2006, 'Marvel Zombies' was a five-issue limited series written by Robert Kirkman with art by Sean Phillips. The series was published by Marvel Comics under its main imprint. The story is set in an alternate universe designated Earth-2149, where the world's superhero population has been infected with a virus that turns them into zombies. The narrative follows the infected heroes, including Spider-Man, Hulk, and Wolverine, as they consume all life on Earth and seek new worlds to devour. The series explores themes of horror and survival, diverging from traditional superhero narratives by focusing on the moral and ethical decay of its characters. 'Marvel Zombies' was well-received for its unique take on the superhero genre and led to several sequels and spin-offs. It had a significant cultural impact, popularizing the zombie genre within comics and influencing subsequent media. The series is considered non-canon to the main Marvel Universe continuity.
