DESCRIPTION
Published from 2005 to 2006 by Marvel Comics, 'Deadly Genesis' is a six-issue limited series written by Ed Brubaker with art by Trevor Hairsine. This story arc reveals a previously unknown chapter in X-Men history, focusing on the events surrounding the original 'Giant-Size X-Men' #1. The plot centers on the revelation that Professor Xavier sent a team of young mutants to rescue the original X-Men from Krakoa before the formation of the new team that included Wolverine, Storm, and others. This mission ended in tragedy, with most of the team presumed dead. The story introduces Vulcan, a powerful mutant and the lost Summers brother, who survived the mission and returns to seek vengeance against Xavier and the X-Men. Key characters include Cyclops, Wolverine, and Professor Xavier, with Vulcan serving as the primary antagonist. The series explores themes of betrayal and the hidden costs of Xavier's dream. 'Deadly Genesis' had a significant impact on X-Men continuity by introducing Vulcan, who would later become a major player in the 'War of Kings' storyline. The series was generally well-received for its dramatic retcon and character development.
