What Is a Collection on VerseDB?

Your Collection is your personal comic book database where you can track, manage, and organize all the issues you own. Whether you're a serious collector or just getting started, the collection feature helps you stay on top of every detail from condition and value to where you're storing each book.


What You Can Do With Your Collection

With your collection, you can:

  • Track individual comic book issues you own
  • Record detailed information like condition, grade, and purchase details
  • Organize issues into custom Collection Sets (folders/groups)
  • Monitor your collection's estimated value and averages
  • Keep tabs on what you're missing in a series
  • Add personal notes and storage locations
  • Share publicly or keep items private
  • Track variants, signatures, and graded books

Accessing Your Collection

Where to Find It

Direct URL

Navigation Menu

  1. Click your profile avatar in the top-right corner
  2. Select "Dashboard" from the dropdown
  3. Click "Collection" in the sidebar

From Your Profile

  1. Click your profile avatar
  2. Select "My Collection"

Understanding Your Collection Dashboard

When you open your collection page, you'll see several sections:

Collection Stats Panel

At the top of your collection, you'll see quick statistics:

  • Total Issues: Number of comics you own
  • Sets: Number of Collection Sets you've created
  • Issues in Sets: How many issues are organized (with percentage)
  • Estimated Value: Total value of your collection
  • Avg. Value per Issue: Average value across all issues

Collection List

The main list shows all your issues with:

  • Cover thumbnail (if available)
  • Issue name and number
  • Series name
  • Collection Set (if assigned)
  • Format (Single Issue, TPB, etc.)
  • Condition (Near Mint, Very Fine, etc.)
  • Actions (Edit, Remove)

Collection Sets Section

Below your main collection, you can:

  • View all your Collection Sets
  • Create new sets
  • See how many issues are in each set
  • Edit or delete sets

How to Use Your Collection

Adding Issues to Your Collection

Method 1: From Issue Page

  1. Browse to any issue page on VerseDB
  2. Click the "Add to Collection" button
  3. Issue is immediately added to your collection
  4. You can edit details later

Method 2: Bulk Adding (PRO Feature)

  1. Go to a series page
  2. Select multiple issues using checkboxes
  3. Click "Add Selected to Collection"
  4. All selected issues added at once

Editing Issue Details

Once added, you can enhance each issue with details:

  1. Go to your Collection page
  2. Find the issue you want to edit
  3. Click the Edit icon (pencil) in the Actions column
  4. Fill out any of these sections:
    • Basic Details: Set, Format, Storage, Notes
    • Condition & Grading: Condition, Graded status, Print number
    • Variant & Signature: Mark variants or signed copies
    • Purchase Information: Date, Price, Source
    • Market & Value: Estimated value, For sale/trade status
  5. Click "Update Details" to save

Organizing with Collection Sets

Collection Sets are like folders for your comics:

Creating a Set

  1. Scroll to Collection Sets section
  2. Click "+ New Set" button
  3. Enter a name (e.g., "Spider-Verse", "Box 3", "Convention Pickups")
  4. Click Save

Assigning Issues to Sets

  1. Edit any issue in your collection
  2. Under Basic Details, select a Collection Set from dropdown
  3. Save changes

Viewing a Set

  • Click the eye icon next to any set name
  • Shows all issues in that set
  • Can edit or remove issues from set view

Public Items

  • Visible on your public profile
  • Others can browse your collection

Private Items

  • Only visible to you when logged in
  • Still fully tracked in your stats
  • Not shown on your public profile
  • Perfect for valuable or personal items

How to Control Privacy

  1. Edit any issue in your collection
  2. Under Basic Details, find the checkbox:
    • Show this item in my public collection
  3. Check to make public, uncheck to keep private
  4. Save changes

Understanding Collection Stats

Your Collection Stats panel automatically updates as you add or edit issues:

Total Issues

  • Count of all comics in your collection
  • Includes all formats (singles, TPBs, hardcovers, etc.)

Sets

  • Number of Collection Sets you've created
  • Default Collection doesn't count

Issues in Sets

  • How many issues are organized into sets
  • Percentage of total collection
  • Helps track organization progress

Estimated Value

  • Sum of all individual issue values you've entered
  • Only includes issues with value data
  • Updated automatically when you change values

Avg. Value per Issue

  • Total estimated value ÷ number of issues
  • Gives quick sense of collection quality
  • Excludes issues without value data

  1. Add your most valuable issues first - Track what matters most
  2. Create a few Collection Sets - Start organizing from day one
  3. Fill out basic details - Set, Format, Condition at minimum
  4. Add storage locations - Know where to find your books

Can't Find an Issue I Added

Solutions

  1. Check if it's filtered by Collection Set
  2. Clear all filters at top of page
  3. Use search bar to find by title
  4. Make sure you're viewing "Collection" not "Wishlist"

Issue Shows in Wrong Set

Solutions

  1. Edit the issue
  2. Change Collection Set dropdown to correct set
  3. Save changes
  4. Refresh page to confirm

Stats Not Updating

Solutions

  1. Hard refresh page (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R)
  2. Check that issue details are fully saved
  3. Verify estimated values are entered correctly
  4. Log out and back in if stats still wrong

Added Issue by Mistake

Solutions

  1. Find issue in collection list
  2. Click red Trash icon in Actions column
  3. Confirm removal
  4. Issue removed permanently (can re-add later if needed)

How many issues can I add to my collection?

Unlimited! Both free and PRO accounts can add as many issues as they want.

What's the difference between Collection and Wishlist?

  • Collection: Comics you own
  • Wishlist: Comics you want to buy

Can I export my collection data?

Yes, PRO subscribers can export their collection to CSV format for backup or use in spreadsheet software.

Are my collection details backed up?

Yes, all data is stored on VerseDB servers and automatically backed up. Your collection is safe.

Can I import my collection from another site?

Not currently, but bulk import features are planned for future updates.

What if I delete a Collection Set?

Issues in that set move back to "Default Collection." The issues themselves are not deleted.

Can I add the same issue twice?

Yes, if you own multiple copies (e.g., reading copy + graded copy). Each entry can have different details.

How accurate are estimated values?

Estimated values are only as accurate as what you input. VerseDB doesn't auto-pull market prices (yet).
