Reactivating Your Subscription

Resuming a Canceled Subscription

If you canceled but your billing period hasn't ended yet, you can resume your subscription.

How to Resume

  1. Go to your Subscription page
  2. You'll see a "Resume Subscription" button
  3. Click "Resume Subscription"
  4. Confirm you want to resume billing
  5. Your subscription reactivates immediately
  6. You'll receive confirmation email

What Happens When You Resume

  • ✅ Cancellation is reversed
  • ✅ Billing resumes on next scheduled date
  • ✅ PRO features continue without interruption (no change in access)
  • ✅ No immediate charge (unless payment method needs updating)
  • ✅ Same billing date as before
  • ✅ Same plan (monthly or yearly)

Example: Resuming Monthly Subscription

  • Original billing: 15th of each month
  • Canceled: March 20
  • Resumed: March 25
  • PRO access: Never interrupted (had until April 15)
  • Next charge: April 15 ($6)
  • Billing continues: 15th of each month

Resubscribing After Expiration

If your subscription has fully expired (PRO features disabled), you can resubscribe.

How to Resubscribe

  1. Visit your Subscription page or homepage
  2. Click "Subscribe to PRO"
  3. Choose your plan:
    • Monthly: $6/month
    • Yearly: $60/year
  4. Enter payment information (or use existing if still on file)
  5. Click "Subscribe"
  6. PRO features activate immediately
  7. Receive subscription confirmation email

What Happens When You Resubscribe

  • ✅ New subscription starts fresh

  • ✅ New billing cycle begins
  • ✅ All your previous data is restored
  • ✅ PRO features reactivate immediately upon payment
  • ✅ Collection sets 3+ become editable again
  • ✅ Custom avatars/banners can be set again

Important Notes

  • This is a new subscription, not a continuation
  • Billing date resets to resubscribe date
  • No continuity from old subscription for billing purposes
  • All data continuity is preserved (collections, history, etc.)

Example: Resubscribing Monthly

  • Old subscription: Billed 15th of month, expired April 15
  • Resubscribed: May 10
  • New billing: 10th of each month going forward
  • First charge: Immediate ($6 on May 10)
  • Next charge: June 10 ($6)

Strategic Cancellation Timing

Best Time to Cancel Monthly Subscription

Early in Billing Cycle

  • Cancel soon after being charged
  • Get most value from the month you paid for
  • Example: Charged April 1, cancel April 2, access until May 1

Avoid Canceling Late

  • If you cancel on April 28 (3 days before renewal)
  • You already paid for April 1-May 1
  • Only saved yourself from May 1 charge
  • Could have used PRO for 3 more days

Optimal Approach

  • Decide to cancel? Do it right after being charged
  • Get full month of PRO access
  • Or cancel 1-2 days before renewal to avoid next charge

Best Time to Cancel Yearly Subscription

Anytime is Fine

  • Since you keep access until year ends
  • Canceling early or late doesn't matter financially
  • You already paid for the full year

Strategic Approach

  1. Cancel Early if Sure:

    • Cancel after 2-3 months if you know you won't renew
    • Removes reminder/worry about upcoming renewal
    • Still get remaining 9-10 months of PRO
  2. Wait if Uncertain:

    • If unsure about renewing, wait until month 10-11
    • Gives you time to decide
    • Can always cancel 1-2 weeks before renewal

Tips for Managing Cancellation

Export Your Data Before Canceling

What to Export

  1. Pull Lists

    • Go to Pull Lists page
    • Click "Export to CSV" (PRO feature)
    • Save file before subscription ends
  2. Collection Data

    • Export each collection set while PRO active
    • After cancellation, limited to 2 sets
  3. Reading History

    • Consider exporting via API (if you use it)
    • Or manually save important records
  4. Wishlists

    • Take screenshots or export
    • Free accounts keep wishlists, but good to backup

Set Reminders for Expiration Date

Why Set Reminders

  • Know exactly when PRO features will stop
  • Plan around expiration (e.g., export data before)
  • Decide if you want to resubscribe before losing access

Calendar Event Example

  • Event: "VerseDB PRO Expires"
  • Date: Your subscription end date
  • Reminder: 1 week before
  • Note: "Export pull lists, decide on renewal"

Don't Create Multiple Subscriptions

Common Mistake

  • User cancels subscription
  • User subscribes again immediately
  • Now has 2 subscriptions (old canceled one + new one)

How to Avoid

  • If you canceled and want to undo:
    • Use "Resume Subscription" button (if period hasn't ended)
    • Don't click "Subscribe" again
  • Only create new subscription after old one fully expires

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get a refund if I cancel?

No, VerseDB does not provide refunds for unused subscription time. However, you keep full PRO access until the end of your billing period.

What happens to my custom avatar after I cancel?

Your custom avatar remains visible until your subscription expires, then reverts to the default avatar. The custom avatar file is preserved and will reappear if you resubscribe.

Will my pull lists be deleted?

No, your pull lists are never deleted. You can still view and manage them on a free account, but you won't be able to export them to CSV.

Can I cancel and resubscribe multiple times?

Yes, there's no limit on cancellations and resubscriptions. However, each new subscription starts fresh with a new billing date.

What if I cancel by accident?

If your billing period hasn't ended, use the "Resume Subscription" button to undo the cancellation. If already expired, you'll need to resubscribe.

How do I cancel if I don't see the cancel button?

Contact [email protected] with your account email and request to cancel. We'll process it manually and confirm.

Will canceling affect my account reputation or contributor level?

No, your XP, contributor level, trust score, and all account metrics remain unchanged after canceling.

Can I keep my Discord PRO role after canceling?

No, the Discord PRO role is automatically removed when your subscription expires. It's restored if you resubscribe.

What happens to my collection sets over the 2-set limit?

Sets 3+ become view-only. You can view issues in them but can't add/remove/edit. They're preserved and become editable again if you resubscribe.

If I cancel yearly and resubscribe monthly, do I lose money?

Depends on timing. If you cancel yearly after 6 months and resubscribe monthly, you got the yearly subscription for $60 (good value). Then pay $6/month going forward.
