Shadowpact
Description
Shadowpact is a team of magic-wielding heroes formed on the spur of the moment by Enchantress, Ragman, and Detective Chimp to stop the Spectre after he sets out to destroy all magic in the universe during Day of Vengeance. Blue Devil, Nightshade, and Nightmaster join soon after, with Nightmaster giving the team its name -- one the wizard Shazam reveals has been used throughout history by rotating bands of mystics who take up lost, magical causes. Guided at times by the Phantom Stranger and led in the field by figures such as Zatanna, the team splits its efforts between hands-on magical combat and behind-the-scenes occult problem-solving, tackling threats too esoteric for conventional super-teams. Shadowpact anchored its own ongoing series for 25 issues, cementing it as DC's default magic-focused response team of its era.
