The Trench
Description
The Trench are a monstrous, cannibalistic species dwelling in the deepest ocean, created by Geoff Johns and introduced as Aquaman's foes in Aquaman vol. 7 #1 (2011). Revealed as descendants of Atlanteans who fell to the sea floor when Atlantis sank and evolved into a mindless swarm, they turn out to be a dying species desperately trying to feed their queen and young rather than simple monsters.
