Greatest American Hero

Ralph Hinkley, a schoolteacher who comes into an alien suit granting powers he never quite learns to control. Adapted from the ABC series created by Stephen J. Cannell, which ran three seasons from 1981 to 1983.

Comics have come back to the property under several publishers, which is why multiple series sit under this title. An earlier three-issue run appeared in the late 2000s, and Amp Comics relaunched the character in 2026 with original star William Katt on the creative team.

The through line is comedy set against superheroics, a reluctant everyman in a red suit rather than a practiced hero.
