Tom Kalmaku is an Inuit mechanic at Ferris Aircraft and one of test pilot Hal Jordan's closest friends. Created by John Broome and Gil Kane, he debuted in Green Lantern vol. 2 in 1960. Aware of Jordan's double life as Green Lantern, he kept a private journal of his adventures that he later published as a biography. Though he has no powers of his own, Kalmaku has repeatedly stepped in to help the Green Lantern Corps in moments of crisis.
