Commander Steel, born Henry Heywood Sr., is a World War II-era hero enhanced with a steel alloy skeleton and powered joints, granting him superhuman strength and durability. After severe injuries, he was rebuilt with mechanized steel components and a protective metal casing, making him nearly indestructible. He served as a Marine and later took on the mantle of Commander Steel, fighting threats during and after the war. His legacy continued through his descendants who also adopted variations of the Steel identity.
