A masked western lawman, the first Ghost Rider appeared in Tim Holt #11 in 1949 with art by Dick Ayers. He used theatrical effects to convince outlaws they faced a supernatural avenger. He headlined his own Magazine Enterprises title from 1950 to the mid-1950s, and Marvel later reused the name.
