Kariooq is a member of the Great Beasts, supernatural beings who were exiled into their home dimension to keep them from overtaking the earthly realm. Kariooq first encountered Alpha Flight when they travelled to the Realm of the Beasts in an attempt to recover the soul of Walter Langkowski. Kariooq was easily defeated by Shaman who used ice, Kariooq's ancient enemy to stop the Great Beast.
