Description
Maggie Sawyer is a police officer who leads the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit, the division tasked with handling threats beyond ordinary law enforcement. Introduced in Superman Vol. 2 in 1987 and created by John Byrne, she initially views Superman as a vigilante but eventually becomes a reliable ally. She later transferred to Gotham City as head of the Major Crimes Unit and became a prominent character in Gotham Central. She is openly gay, an aspect of her characterization present since her early appearances.
