Born Leslie Townes Hope, the entertainer lent his likeness to DC for The Adventures of Bob Hope, a celebrity humor title that ran 109 issues from 1950 to 1968. The comic-book Hope is a wisecracking version of his vaudeville persona. Later years added his ward Tadwallader and the alter ego Super-Hip.
