Writer and artist Dave Stevens created the Rocketeer, who first appeared in 1982 as a backup feature in Pacific Comics' Starslayer. Cliff Secord is a 1930s stunt pilot who discovers a hidden rocket pack that lets him fly over pre-war Los Angeles, guided by a helmet built by his friend Peevy.
