Schroeder is a child prodigy in Charles Schulz's Peanuts, known for his extraordinary ability to play classical music on a toy piano and his devotion to the composer Ludwig van Beethoven, whose birthday he marks every December 16. He first appeared in the strip on May 30, 1951 and was named after a boy Schulz used to caddy with as a young man. He is the unwilling object of Lucy Van Pelt's persistent romantic attention, which he consistently and firmly rebuffs.
