The Wizard is the title character of Brant Parker and Johnny Hart's comic strip The Wizard of Id, which began in 1964. He is court magician to the tyrannical, diminutive King of the medieval kingdom of Id, and is often called simply the Wiz. The strip's name plays on both The Wizard of Oz and the Freudian concept of the id.
