Roy Race is British comics' definitive footballer, the striker and later player-manager of Melchester Rovers whose last-minute winners gave the language "real Roy of the Rovers stuff". He debuted in Tiger in 1954, held his own weekly title from 1976 to 1995, and was revived by Rebellion in 2018.
