What a way to wrap it up. Smile: For the Camera #5 puts Ivy on the final runway, and she finally has to face the thing that has been wearing her smile. I did not expect a happy ending from a Smile story, but I'm glad she got one. She went through so much across these five issues that seeing her come out the other side felt earned and pretty satisfying.
Looking back at the whole series, this was a really fun horror run. Hannah Rose May twists the familiar Smile idea into something about fame, fashion, and what constant attention does to the women stuck in the spotlight. Every issue kept the pressure building, and Miriana Puglia's art kept me guessing which smiles were real. It's not perfect for me, but it's close. If you skipped the single issues, grab the trade.
