Takehiko Inoue
Biography
Takehiko Inoue is a Japanese manga artist born in Kagoshima in 1967. He made his debut in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1988 and rose to prominence with Slam Dunk, a basketball manga serialized from 1990 to 1996 that sold over 157 million copies worldwide. He followed it with Vagabond, a historical manga about Miyamoto Musashi, and Real, which focuses on wheelchair basketball. In 2022, Inoue wrote and directed The First Slam Dunk, an anime film adaptation that became Japan's top-grossing domestic film of 2023.
