Ralph Heimdahl began his career animating for Walt Disney Studios, contributing to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Fantasia, and Dumbo after winning a national Disney drawing competition in 1937. He later moved into newspaper comics, taking over the daily Bugs Bunny strip in 1948 and drawing it for three decades until 1978, syndicated in hundreds of newspapers worldwide. He also drew the Sunday Bugs Bunny strip beginning in 1947.
