American cartoonist born in 1950. He created The Far Side, a single-panel comic strip syndicated to over 1,900 newspapers from 1980 to 1995. Known for its surrealist humor and anthropomorphic characters, the strip's collected books have sold over 45 million copies. Larson received the National Cartoonists Society's Reuben Award in 1990 and 1994.
