Mariko Tamaki

Mariko Tamaki is a Canadian comic book writer and graphic novelist born in 1975 in Toronto, Ontario. She is of Japanese and Jewish descent and studied English literature at McGill University.

Tamaki first gained recognition for her graphic novels created with her cousin Jillian Tamaki, including Skim and This One Summer. The latter won a 2015 Eisner Award and received a Caldecott Honor. Their collaboration Roaming won the 2024 Eisner Award for Best Graphic Album, with Tamaki also winning the 2024 Eisner for Best Writer.

In 2016, Tamaki began writing for both major publishers simultaneously. For Marvel, she wrote Hulk (She-Hulk) and X-23 (2018-2019). For DC, she wrote the miniseries Supergirl: Being Super and later took on Detective Comics, Wonder Woman, and other titles. She has become one of the most prolific writers working across both Marvel and DC.
