Makoto Niwano is a Japanese manga artist from Kagoshima Prefecture who debuted in 1987 with The Momotaroh in Weekly Jump. He is known for sports and action manga, and produced a manga adaptation of Deltora Quest that was adapted into an anime series. He also mentored Takeshi Obata, who later illustrated Hikaru no Go and Death Note.
