Japanese manga artist born in Sendai in 1960. Araki debuted in 1980 and launched JoJo's Bizarre Adventure in 1987, an ambitious series spanning nine parts and multiple historical settings. With over 120 million copies in circulation, it is one of the longest-running manga series. Araki has received the Grand Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival and the Minister of Education's Art Encouragement Prize.
