Motoka Murakami is a Japanese manga artist born in Tokyo who debuted in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1972. Over a career spanning five decades he has worked across genres including sports, historical drama, and medical fiction. He won the Kodansha Manga Award in 1982 and the Shogakukan Manga Award twice. His most acclaimed work, Jin, a time-travel medical manga serialized from 2000 to 2010, won the Grand Prize at the 2011 Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize.
